Welcome to my family room remodel.
My family room is the fourth room I've done since buying this home in June of 2011(I've done the Master, Office, and Garage). Being able to stay home now it's amazing the little things I'm able to stay on top of. First, I want to thank Jose Guzman, and Jose Berrera. Without working with these guys at Alta Bates I would have never learned to build a tent like this. This day I squirted 3 gallons of the same color, but with Glidden Professional (ICI) instead of Kelly Moore just to clean things up.
At this point I'm ready to put the floor down. Having already cut up the carpet, and pad. Scraped all the glue up (what a pain), and pulled off the baseboard.
It took four hours to snap the floor together using the Pergo with the pad already attached. This is great stuff, and hopefully I'll have it throughout the home eventually. This is the 3rd room with it.
Here is the room completed with everything put back together. It took me one full week, and the garbage company takes all the debris with my weekly trash. I nail the base on with my nail gun using my nitrogen bottle, so I don't have to stretch a hose through the house.
I took this from my backyard on a cool September morning. Everyday is a different picture living here in the mountains. Cheryl and I have walked to the top of this twice already. She made me an apple pie yesterday from this tree in our backyard.
Almost every day I walk to this hill here. I took this picture one morning. The hills in the distance is California. They're about 8500', and on the other side is Loyalton, and the Portola valley.
After the first of the year I'll remodel the guest room, and then eventually tackle my Living room. The living room will be the most expensive, and time consuming. New floor, paint, and another natural gas stove to warm the front part of the house. The little stove I put in our bedroom heats the home well except on the coldest days.
